 Coach
Vesel begins his 2nd year at Southridge High
School. The varsity finished 11-12 lasts season,
missing the play-offs by 1 game. Excitement is high
with 5 returning players coming back for another
season. Before Coach Vesel landed at Southridge, he
was the varsity coach at Hood River Valley High
School. Prior to Hood River Valley he spent three
seasons at Warner Pacific College, an NAIA college
in Portland, OR. He helped the Knights make the
play-offs twice, including a trip to the National
Christian College Tournament. Coach Vesel began his
coaching career at Chemeketa Community College where
he helped the Storm win an NWAACC championship. He
received his bachelors and masters from Portland
State University. |

 Greg
is in his fourteenth year of coaching high school
basketball. This is Greg’s eighth year at
Southridge having served two years as Freshman
coach, four years as JV coach, and now his second
year as Varsity Assistant. Greg also assisted at
Glencoe, Hillsboro, North Salem, and South Albany
High Schools with four State Tournament teams and
three Final Four appearances including one
Championship Final. Greg has also coached
successful youth football, basketball, and baseball
teams in the Southridge community. Greg attended
Willamette University where he played football and
baseball and graduated from Oregon State with a
degree in Business Education. Greg works for
Standard Insurance Retirement Plan Services as a
Compliance Analyst. Greg
is married 27 years to wife, Linda, and has sons
Colin, a 2005 Southridge grad attending Linfield
College, and Kevin, Southridge Class of 2009. Greg
enjoys hunting deer, elk, and ducks and tying his
own flies for fly fishing in his spare time. |

 As a player, Chris was an
Oregon Prep All State selection and member
of the undefeated 1979 State Championship
team from McMinnville.
He was a 3 year starter
at Washington State which ranked in
the top 20 in 1983 and advanced to the
second round of the NCAAs.
As a coach Chris has 15 years
experience at both the youth and high school
level (Kamiakin HS,
Kennewick WA)
He completed his first year as the
Southridge JV coach in 06-07 and is excited
to continue in that capacity this year,
helping build a model high school basketball
program at Southridge. Chris and his wife Cheryl have 5
children: Jenna a Junior at UO, Kyle in his
second year playing basketball at Lane CC
and Lexie, Haylie and Kenzie all attending
Southridge.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys
family activities, exercising, RVing and
reading. Chris' "real job" is an
Operations Manager for Intel Corporation.

 Coach Hanna will be the Freshmen Basketball Coach at
Southridge
High School this year. He
played college basketball at
Willamette
University and high school basketball at
David
Douglas
High School. At
Willamette
University, he lettered 3
years and received Academic All-American and Most
Inspirational Team honors in his final season. In
high school, he received All-State honors as well as
1st Team All-League honors in Basketball,
Football and Golf. Being a coach’s son, he has
lived and breathed the game of basketball making it
one of his true passions. Coach Hanna said the
following about the upcoming season, “I look forward
to helping the Freshmen reach their potential by
learning how to push themselves as a student, member
of the community and as a basketball player.” Erik
and his wife, Meggan, live in the Southridge School
District. They have three sons, Matthew, Brett, and
Brady. |

 Wes is entering his
second year as the JV2 head coach. He grew up
in Gaithersburg Maryland and played high school ball
at Central High School in Independence. He was an
All league player for 3 years and Player of the
year. He played college ball at Warner Pacific
College where he was a 3 year starter. Wes graduated
with a B.S. in Human Development and Education and
is teaching 2nd Grade at Aloha-Huber Park.

 Chris will be in his first year as a Southridge
Basketball assistant. Chris is 24 years old
and graduated from Century HS 2001. He
graduated with a B.S. in biology from Oregon State
University in 2005 and is going to Bond University
in Australia in 2008 for a masters degree in sports
science. He has worked the past 3 years at
Southridge as an instructional assistant and has
been a Trail Blazers fan his entire life. Chris
studied abroad in England in 2004 and played
basketball for Lancaster University. |
